Babar Sheikh is an award-winning filmmaker, multimedia artist, musician, and academic, a graduate of the IVS (1999), and an MPhil in Art & Design (2023). Over the past two decades, he has directed numerous music videos, ad films, documentaries, and short films for the Pakistani, regional, and international markets and has worked comprehensively to develop film education in Pakistan. He has also been a part of various archival performance acts that border on traditional folk and modern contemporary music. In 2022 he produced Pakistan’s first revenge action thriller ‘Carma’ and is responsible for multiple interdisciplinary initiatives within the Pakistani art scene. He directed the ‘Schoolgirl Newscasters’ campaign for EBM in collaboration with BBDO Pakistan which won the first-ever Silver Cleo for film in Pakistan and the Glass Lion for Change at Cannes Lions 2023.
